Is it not a proof that God was on the side of the Reformers, inspiring, fostering, and crowning their endeavours? However, it seems clear to me that no reasonable effort could have been put forth to stop the gradual separation of church and state. Emphasize the mission and kingdom of God, focusing on the gospel for the poor. Examples include the spontaneity of the Pentecostal churches, and the more traditional worship of the Anglican churches in the Catholic tradition.

There is a range of beliefs in both denominations (with more liberal-tolerant, more conservative-intolerant-of-others divisions within the denominations). Ray Billington’s The Protestant Crusade lists 45 professedly anti-Catholic newspapers and periodicals that started publication between 1830 and 1854, ranging from the daily Native American to the weekly Anti-Romanist and the monthly American Protestant. So the options for today's Catholics are two: 1) remain in the local Catholic dioceses and accept the heresies and other errors being taught and followed, or 2) attend a traditional Catholic Church in your area (hopefully there is one within driving distance) and practice your faith free from error. This idea contains the four main doctrines on the Bible: that its teaching is needed for salvation (necessity); that all the doctrine necessary for salvation comes from the Bible alone (sufficiency); that everything taught in the Bible is correct (inerrancy); and that, by the Holy Spirit overcoming sin, believers may read and understand truth from the Bible itself, though understanding is difficult, so the means used to guide individual believers to the true teaching is often mutual discussion within the church (clarity). ^ Mutual defense and protection of each individually, and of all jointly, who were within the bonds of the Covenant.
