I’ve been working on a package called vcfnp which provides support for converting data from a VCF file first into NumPy arrays, and from there to HDF5. The aim of this workshop is to bring together computer and life scientists to discuss emerging and future directions in these areas. All potential freshmen must indicate on the UC application if they wish to major in computer science or computer engineering. For course descriptions not found in the UC San Diego General Catalog, 2016–17, please contact the department for more information.

Failure in the proficiency examination in Discrete Mathematics is considered to be an undergraduate deficiency that must be removed before admission to candidacy. Indeed, to solve this, algorithms that use dynamic programming have been proposed, but in reality, these algorithms require an enormous amount of processing time. The term "bioinformatics" is more appealing to biologists, as the "computation" in "computational biology" is not quite on target.
