It was a time of great excitement and hyperactivity. Here the process has gone much further, to develop into "the Sprawl." It’s a bit like dropping “Black Samurai” Robert Sand or Mack Bolan or “The Destroyer” Remo Williams into a cyberpunk future – more Richard Morgan (Altered Carbon) than William Gibson, even though Gibson was Barnes’ contemporary.

When a mysterious investor buys control of the world's most popular virtual environment and international financial haven, it falls to a band of misfit hackers to save The City, and the world. She states, “The cyborgic femininities of cyberpunk should be understood as (post)feminist, undermining the potentially transgressive monstrosity of the femme fatale, a key facet of the noir-detective narratives of cyberpunk.” [11] Furthermore, some examples of cyberpunk do deviate from these types of representations.
